Targeted nutrition of collagen tissue: With high physical stress, tissue breakdown predominates – overuse injuries, partial or complete ruptures, e.g. of the Achilles tendon, are possible. The targeted supply of substances for tendon nutrition improves resilience and relieves pain.
Collagen hydrolysate, chondroitin & glucosamine sulfate
Important for the tissue nutrition of tendons, cartilage, ligaments and skin. Since regeneration is very slow, taking it for at least 3-4 months is advisable.
Collagen: The most common structural protein in the body, an important component of bones, teeth, tendons, ligaments, and skin. Collagen hydrolysate is highly bioavailable; optimal dosage: 10 g/day. Particularly high levels of proline and hydroxyproline.
Proline & Hydroxyproline are main components of collagenous tissues, and together with other amino acids, they ensure a stable network with high tensile strength.
A good supply of collagen ensures tear-resistant tendons, elastic skin and functional cartilage.
Glucosamine sulfate
An essential building block of proteoglycans – these bind water in the cartilage and ensure its cushioning function. Together with chondroitin, it promotes the formation of new cartilage, strengthens collagen fibers, and inhibits cartilage-degrading enzymes.
Recommended dose: 1000–1500 mg/day
Chondroitin sulfate
Central biological ground substance of cartilage, essential for cartilage nutrition.
Recommended dose: at least 500 mg/day
Vitamins C and E
Essential for the safe incorporation of amino acids into the ground substance. Without these vitamins, the connective tissue structure becomes less elastic and less resilient.
Manganese
Essential trace element, necessary for bone growth and protein synthesis.
Collagen hydrolysate – Why?
As a long-chain fibrous protein, collagen has the same amino acid structure as the collagen in joint cartilage and contains a particularly high amount of proline, hydroxyproline and glycine.
In studies: 10 g of collagen hydrolysate daily over 8–24 weeks led to improved joint function and pain reduction.
Absorption & Effect: Collagen hydrolysate has been proven to stimulate collagen II synthesis (up to a 2.5-fold increase in cell culture). Only collagen hydrolysate is effectively accumulated in the articular cartilage – native collagen (gelatin) or other hydrolysates do not show a comparable effect.
